Our Family History
A fourth generation produce family business, Cimino Brothers Produce traces its roots to the New York City Produce Market. At the turn of the century, Peter Martori owned a vegetable push cart in the Little Italy section of New York City. As his family grew, he realized the need for expansion and so began his wholesale produce business on the New York City Produce Market.

In 1926, Peter Martori's daughter, Nancy, married Frank Condello and he became a "produce man", taking on anything his father-in-law asked and eventually becoming a partner.

After weathering the depression years and the death of Peter Martori, the family moved west to expand their operations. In 1940, the sons settled in Phoenix Arizona and formed Martori Brothers Distributors, becoming a grower-shipper. Frank Condello continued on to California, sold Martori's produce and helped to develop other produce ventures for Martori Brothers Distributors and P & R Brokerage Company.

The years from 1945-1965 saw expansion of farming interests and increased operations. Through Frank Condello's direction, varied partnerships were formed with other growers and entities.

In the mid 1960's, Armand Cimino married Frank Condello's daughter Stephanie and was brought into the business. Armand started as an inspector, worked his way up to partner and eventually became owner of what had become mainly a brokerage business in 1971 and changed the name to Cimino Brokerage Company. Cimino Brokerage Company continued to grow through the 1980's, expanding its customer base and diversifying its affiliations.

In 1992, a partnership was formed between Armand and Stephanie Cimino and their two sons, Joe and Vince Cimino. The brokerage business continued to flourish and in 1995 the Cimino family returned to the shipping side of the industry.
